Assad Regime Falls In Syria

The regime of Bashar Al-Assad has fallen in Syria. Assad has reportedly fled the war-torn nation, and rebels have captured Damascus.

Sky News calls the most significant event yet in the ongoing Middle East conflict surrounding Israel.

“It will be the end of a brutal reign of terror that has lasted since the Assad family under patriarch Hafez Assad seized power in the early 1970s. And the end of a devastating civil war that has raged since 2011.” The Australian network claimed.

Assad was a fierce Shia ruler, in a Sunni majority country. The rebels announced  "After 50 years of oppression under Baath rule, and 13 years of crimes and tyranny and (forced) displacement, we announce today the end of this dark period and the start of a new era for Syria.”

In a Facebook post, the Syrian Prime Minister claims that he is ready for any leadership that the people choose, saying that he is ready to hand over the reigns of power. The rebels say that government institutions will remain under the power of the Prime Minister until transfer of power concludes.

Previously, Iran was propping up Assad’s government, in exchange for help propping up Iran’s axis of power over the Middle East. Syria was used by the IRGC to provide arms to Hezbollah, furthering their attacks on Israel, and opening up another front in the deadly war.

Assad also allowed Russia to use Syria as a sea port and air base, so long as Moscow would help Assad if ever attacked by his enemies. Hezbollah attacking Israel with both Iran and Russia using the nation as a waypoint created a volatile situation with World War written all over it. It seems, that will now come to an end.

Al Jazeera reports that celebrations have broken out across the country.
