Best Bets for Week 5 of College Football

Best Bets for Week 5 of College Football

It’s finally the weekend and you know what that means. College football picks baby! After last week, the boys are now 17-12, up 5 units on the year. We’ve got huge matchups like Georgia vs Alabama this week as well as plenty of games with huge value. Let's dive into it.

  1. Ole Miss (-15.5) vs. Kentucky

You know the drill. We’re hammering Ole Miss all year long. The Rebs have done well for us this year going 4-0 against their spreads. Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss look to kick off their SEC schedule with a Kentucky team that has been very hot and cold this year with a close game against Georgia and a blowout loss to South Carolina. No explanation is needed for riding with Ole Miss.

Best Bet: Ole Miss -15.5

  1. Michigan (-10) vs. Minnesota

Michigan surprised a lot of onlookers last week in their win over USC. The vast majority of the public including myself expected USC to roll into Ann Arbor and dog walk the Wolverines. That didn't happen. Despite it being a close game, there were encouraging signs for Michigan fans. They were clearly the most physical team on the field and the run game finally got going. I'm expecting last week's game to set the tone going forward for the Wolverines and that begins against this Minnesota squad. I'm expecting a physical low-scoring game that the Wolverines win and cover.

Best Bet: Michigan -10

  1. Colorado (+14) vs UCF

It kinda hurts to pick Prime and Colorado. I'm not a fan of how the program is run and definitely not a fan of how Sheduer and other players conduct themselves like immature, spoiled kids. However, the simple fact is they're not gonna get blown out by UCF. Just not in the realm of possibility. I loved this line when it was +14.5 and now I like this line at +14.

Best Bet: Colorado +14

  1. Duke (-1) vs. UNC

After UNC got their doors blown off by JMU last week (70 points 😳) I will never pick the Tar Heels again. I've been on Duke a couple of times this year behind their star QB Maalik Murphy and Coach Manny Diaz’s exotic defense. Duke is at home so I think this will be a safe play for the weekend.

Best Bet: Duke -1

  1. Texas (-37.5) vs Mississippi State

Mississippi State has been hampered by injuries this year and just lost senior QB Blake Shapen for the rest of the year to injury. Texas is clearly the best team top to bottom in the country and reportedly will bring back Quinn Ewers this week from injury. This could easily be a 60-0 game, don't overthink this one.

Best Bet: Texas -37.5

  1. Illinois (+19.5) vs. Penn State

I mean I love Penn State and Drew Allar but a 20-point spread against a ranked 4-0 Illinois squad is absolutely freakin stupid. Seriously, whoever made this line must be one of those liberal idiots who have never watched a football game. Illinois just got done beating a very good Nebraska team on the road preparing them for this matchup. Illinois may lose but I'm staking my reputation on the fact that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell Penn State covers this spread.

Best Bet: Illinois +19.5
