Best Bets for Week 6 of College Football

We’ve made it through the week and now you know what time it is! Non-stop football baby. NFL and college games for the next 55 consecutive days. Pure bliss. After last week's 3-3 performance, the boys are now 20-15 on the year, still up 5 units. Let’s run the tables this week.

  1. Sam Houston State (-10) vs. UTEP

How about a little Thursday night college football to mix things up? Sam Houston has looked good this year sporting a 4-1 record with good wins on their record against Rice, Texas St, and NMSU. Behind quarterback Hunter Watson, the Bearkats offense possesses a staunch rushing attack against a UTEP squad that is decent against the pass but struggles to contain rushing QB’s. This should be an ideal matchup for Sam Houston and a marquee win on primetime TV.

Best Bet: Sam Houston State -10

  1. Pittsburgh (-2.5) vs UNC

UNC has had one of the worst couple weeks any football program could have. After getting their doors blown off by JMU, the Tar Heels blew a 20-0 lead against rival Duke which has the fanbase on the verge of anarchy. Pitt on the other hand has been one of the darlings of the 2024 football season, rocking a 4-0 record behind Alabama transfer QB Eli Holstein. Pitt is hands down the better team and the momentum is clearly riding against UNC right now. Give me Pitt all day in this matchup.

Best Bet: Pitt -2.5

  1. NC State (-5.5) vs. Wake Forest

I'm not gonna lie, this line surprised me quite a bit. The Wolfpack host Wake Forest this week and despite the injuries and slow start NC State has endured, they are clearly better than their Demon Deacon counterparts. Early reports are that NC State’s freshman QB CJ Bailey will get the start this week and I think he will play better than the tough two matchups he had to start his college career. This smells like an easy line, give me the Wolfpack at home.

Best Bet: NC State -2.5

  1. Michigan (+2.5) vs. Washington

Alrighty I’m back on the Michigan bandwagon. They seemingly have turned around their season after a disastrous start and have established an identity as a tough, running-oriented team. This Washington squad has underwhelmed this year, arguably easy to predict with the amount of talent they lost from last season both in terms of players and the mass exodus of their coaching staff. While this game is at Washington, I don't see a problem with the Wolverines' game plan translating on the road. I like Michigan as an outright winner but even buying this line up to +3.5 seems incredibly safe. Hammer the Wolverines this weekend.

Best Bet: Michigan +2.5

  1. Florida (+2.5) vs. UCF

Florida an underdog at home?!? I'm gonna have to go down with the ship on this one to believe it. I called the Colorado beatdown last week and was very unimpressed with what I saw out of UCF. Florida has had a mini revival after looking destined for an 0-12 season after week one. I’m on the Gators at home and I'll go down with the ship on this one.

Best Bet: Florida +2.5

  1. Ole Miss vs. South Carolina O53.5

Well, the Rebels finally lost us one. They looked very lackluster against Kentucky last week and in this matchup, I’m scared to pick either side considering South Carolina whooped Kentucky a few weeks ago. I do love points to be scored in a flurry in this matchup. In my opinion, the line should be in the 60’s so I see a ton of value in this game. Take the over and watch a good game.

Best Bet: O53.5
