College Football Overreactions: Is Colorado Back?

We have been blessed with three weeks of College Football after such a long period of waiting for football to start again. The events that have unfolded so far have left many college fans shocked, surprised, and angry leading to plenty of hot takes from professional and amateur observers. Some of these are overreactions so let’s dive into those.

  1. Is Georgia In Trouble?

Simply put, no they are not. Since Georgia began their dominant run, they have had a scare game every year. (think Auburn 2023 27-20, Kentucky 2022 16-6 and Clemson 2021 10-3)

The Bulldogs went into Lexington last week and seemed to me as though they underestimated Kentucky. Considering Georgia’s advance knowledge of Kentucky QB Brock Vandergriff (Georgia transfer) and Kentucky’s dismal performances before the Georgia game, I lean towards the camp of Georgia underestimating the Wildcats. Kirby Smart won’t let that happen again.

Verdict: Overreaction

  1. Is There A Quarterback Competition In Austin?

If you don't know the answer to this question already, you have to be living under a rock. Touted QB Arch Manning has been sitting in the wings for two years now waiting out the Quinn Ewers era in Austin. Ewers hasn't been bad as a whole, remember beating Alabama last year. However, Arch Manning has been hyped up as the best thing since sliced bread all the way back to his junior year of high school. After Ewers went down to injury on Saturday, what did Arch do? Only threw 4 touchdowns on 9 passes and ran for a touchdown while reaching a top speed that was as fast as Tyreek Hill. Yeah, try to tell me there's no controversy in Austin this week. I've got beachfront property in Kansas to sell you.

Verdict: Start Looking For A New Home Quinn Ewers

  1. Colorado Actually Looks Like A Good Team?

After a lot of back and forth on social media with the Colorado State program, Coach Prime and the Buffaloes seemingly handled business winning by a score of 28-9. Now at first glance, as a lot of the Twitter-heads have done, the initial impression is that Colorado’s back on the national landscape now. In my opinion, I left that game thinking Colorado’s in as much trouble as ever. The game was much closer than the score portrays plus the simple fact that Colorado State just isn't a good team. Texas blew them out by 50+ and from the opening kickoff, they never once made that game seem competitive. Coach Prime likes to think his program is on the level of a Texas but in how they won versus Colorado State and how his team treated the opposing players after the game showed a chasmic gap between the two programs. Just look at how Sheduer treats the opposing QB after the game. I don't give a flying hoot what was said before or during the game. That is possibly the most unsportsmanlike way to conduct oneself in victory and hot take but I think this clip alone all but guarantees Sheduer won’t even sniff the first round of the NFL draft.

That is unless Deion leaves for an NFL head coaching job and drafts his son first overall. (Looking at you Carolina Panthers, don't do it)

Verdict: Abandon Ship 4-8 Season Inbound
