What’s more presidential than calling half of America “garbage”?
After a joke about Puerto Rico being an “island of garbage” was made by a comedian at a Trump rally, Joe Biden took to the microphone saying “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters”
The President fumbled through the comments, seeming unaware of where Puerto Rico is, or what it is for that matter - seeming to indicate that the island is in Delaware.
He said “Well, let me tell you something. I don’t — I — I don’t know the Puerto Rican that — that I know — or a Puerto Rico, where I’m from, in my home state of Delaware..”
While the joke made at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally may have been unsavory, it was not the former president who cracked it. Rather it was a comedian - who should have known better - performing at the rally.
Joe Biden is not a comedian, and he didn’t appear to be joking. He casually and bluntly called a demographic, which makes up roughly half of the nation he represents, garbage. This is the same man, who in 2020 ran on bringing “unity” back to America.
White House staffers seem to have attempted to cover his comments up, in transcripts. They added an apostrophe to "supporters" making it "supporter's" to imply that Biden was speaking of trash left behind by Trump voters, which contextually makes little sense. It is obvious what the president meant by his comments.
An X account called 'End Wokeness' pointed out that Politico portrayed the comments in the same way that the transcripts did.
These fumbles from Joe Biden continue to become hurdles for the Harris campaign. Voters seem to directly correlate most of Biden’s actions to Kamala Harris as she sinks further and further in the polls.
