Were you planning on voting for RFK Jr.? Well, there’s no need. Everyone's favorite independent presidential candidate has just suspended his campaign and endorsed former President Donald J. Trump.
Kennedy joined Trump on stage at a rally in Arizona. The former president’s crowd broke into “Bobby!” cheers. RFK apparently believed that his existence in the race would serve to assist Kamala Harris and hurt Trump.
For this reason, RFK suspended his campaign and urged his supporters to vote red. Kennedy had reportedly been communicating with Trump and his campaign over the past several weeks which ultimately led up to the announcement.
His running mate, Nicole Shanahan seemed optimistic that RFK may find a place for himself within the Trump administration - were he to be re-elected.
This announcement has the potential to dump a massive, now undecided voter block straight on the former president’s lap. It is also a moment of great attention to Trump, and the election in general to which it seems there has been very little since Biden dropped out.
During Kennedy’s speech at the rally he listed issues he held against the Democrat party. AP reports that he spoke for roughly 20 minutes before outwardly proclaiming his support for Trump.
CNN seemed to even cut away from RFK’s speech as he spoke about democrats manipulating their primary system to install Kamala as the nominee.
