In a recently leaked recording, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was heard stating that America is being “stolen by fascists and Nazis.” The remarks, made during the Minnesota Nurses Association’s Day on the Hill event.
Senator Nate Wesenberg, a Republican from Little Falls, provided the recording to Alpha News, highlighting concerns over Walz’s inflammatory language. The statements are not only baseless but also serve to deepen political divisions within the country.
Claiming that Donald Trump - who has condemned Nazis on multiple occasions - is a Nazi serves only to dilute and erase what being a Nazi means. To make the term, and the ideology mean virtually nothing. It is a dance on the graves of millions of innocent people who were murdered under the Nazi regime. Another question one may ask, is what does he mean 'stolen'? Donald Trump won the 2024 election fair and square.
This incident is not isolated. Governor Walz has a history of making contentious remarks, including a recent claim that Tesla CEO Elon Musk performed a Nazi salute at President Donald Trump’s inauguration—a gesture widely dismissed, even by the Anti-Defamation League, as an “awkward gesture” rather than a deliberate salute. Musk has since threatened legal action against Walz over these allegations.
Prominent figures have weighed in on the controversy. Jim Schultz, a former Minnesota Attorney General candidate, described Walz’s statement as “absolutely reprehensible.”
As of now, Governor Walz’s office has not issued an official response to the leaked recording.
