What In The World Is Going On With The Yankees?

In a surprising turn of events, the New York Yankees are staring down the barrel of a 4-0 sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees offense has been anemic up to this point in the World Series, scoring a combined 7 runs in 3 games. Making the problem worse, star outfielder Aaron Judge is 1-12 with 7 K’s through the first three games of the series.

Despite the struggles, the Yankees coaching staff still has hope for their star slugger. “He’s one swing away,” Yankees hitting coach James Rowson told ESPN. “I know it's a big story, but from my standpoint, this guy is one of the best hitters to ever play the game. On any given night, the whole narrative gets rewritten.”

However with the Dodgers just one win away from a World Series sweep, the Yankees are running out of time and opportunities to rewrite that script. It must be noted that no team in MLB history has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the World Series but baseball fans will remember the epic 3-0 comeback the Red Sox orchestrated over the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS.

Although the odds are severely stacked against the Yankees, if there's any team in baseball that possesses the offensive firepower to orchestrate a comeback, it would be this Yankees team with their modern-day Murderers Row.

Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton form one of the all-time greatest combinations of hitters with each having the offensive talent to turn this series on its heels. Soto and Stanton have both played up to par so far this postseason with Soto especially all but assuring that the Yankees will go all in for his upcoming free agency.

All that remains is for the Yankees to recover from the early punches and rally around their talented offense. The path is there with two straight games at Yankee Stadium and with a clear advantage over the Dodgers pitching staff.

Will we witness history in this World Series? It looks and feels as though that question rests on the sturdy shoulders of Aaron Judge.
