While you may “know of” many of Trump’s appointments, or have even followed the nominees for some time, there is often more than meets the eye. Donald Trump recently appointed Matt Gaetz, a congressman from Florida to be his Attorney General. This has sparked outrage on the left with many claiming that Gaetz is unqualified. So who is Matt Gaetz?
His father, Don Gaetz, served as a Florida state senator, providing young Matt with an early understanding of public service. Gaetz graduated from Florida State University in 2003 with a degree in interdisciplinary sciences and earned his Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary Law School in 2007. After gaining legal experience as an attorney, Gaetz turned his focus to public service.
Gaetz began his political career in the Florida House of Representatives, where he served from 2010 to 2016. During his tenure, he championed conservative policies, including tax reform, education initiatives, and criminal justice reform. His efforts to reduce government overreach and protect Second Amendment rights earned him widespread support.
Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016, Gaetz quickly established himself as a dynamic leader within the Republican Party.
